Musician's or Publisher's Notes

The Concerto was written for the Mozart year and originally conceived as a Pipa Concerto (Pipa is an ancient Chinese musical instrument, it has four strings and belongs to the plucked category. Sometimes it's called the Chinese lute – Classical Connect).  This is the premier recording of the version for violin and string orchestra, which is quite different from the Pipa version.

The First Movement deals with the idea of Mozart traveling to China.  The music is mostly tonal but has a modern rhythm language.
