Prominent American composer, Charles Tomlinson Griffes died at age 35. Despite the brevity of his life, he composed in several distinct musical styles, influenced by German Romantic music, Impressionism, oriental motives and abstract concepts.  Part of a set of four pieces called Roman Sketches, The Fountain of the Acqua Paola was written in 1916, and it reflects his interest in Impressionism.  This piece translates nature into music, most prominently, the sounds of water from a creek or a river.     Daria Rabotkina
