Adelaide

Lonely wanders your friend in spring’s garden,
Mild from lovely, magical light bathed,
Through swaying, blooming branches tremble.
Adelaide!

In the mirrored stream, in the snow of the Alps,
In the falling day’s golden clouds,
In the realm of the stars shines your image,
Adelaide!

Evening breezes in tender arbors whisper,
Silver bell flowers of May in the grass rustle,
Waves rush and nightingales whistle,
Adelaide!

Once, O wonder! Shall bloom on my grave,
One flower from the ashes of my heart.
Clearly gleams on every little purple petal:
Adelaide!
