Isaac Albéniz was a great exponent of Spanish national music. Inspired by the
origins of traditional music, he composed his Suite Española, which
although originally intended for the piano, appears to have been planned for
the guitar because of its Andalusian feel. Asturias is one of the guitar repertoire's most popular works, and in spite of
being named after a region in Northern
Spain, its form and its harmonic
structure suggest flamenco music, the traditional music of Andalusia in
Southern Spain. Rafael Serrallet
