Today's program is inspired by dance and movement.

I have drawn ropes from bell tower to bell tower; garlands from window to window, golden chains from star to star, and I dance.  -  Arthur Rimbaud

Pavane and Bourrée, (from the Suite, Opus 10)                              George Enesco

The name and the formal structure are borrowed from baroque music but the colour of these two dances is, as Enesco said himself, "pretty much Debussy-ist, rather Île de France (i.e. the region around Paris)". Despite all these typical French aspects, the "sweet Romanian landscape" is very present. In fact, the piece displays a unique synthesis of neo-classical, romantic and impressionist elements.       Mara Dobresco
