Etude Op. 25, No. 12 in c minor        Frédéric Chopin

As a pianist, Chopin was mostly self-taught and constantly searching for new approaches to piano playing. At only 19 years of age, Chopin began composing his first book of études to help overcome technical challenges. His études exude poetry as well as a wide range of colors and musical images. Op. 10 No. 1 consists of widely spread broken chord passages in the right hand and provide a great challenge for the performer. Known as the "Revolutionary Etude"  Chopin wrote Op. 10 No. 12 shortly after learning of Warsaw's surrender to Russia in 1831. The constantly moving left hand supports a right hand lamenting the fate of Poland. Op. 25 No. 12 is known as the "Ocean" étude and presents a series of parallel arpeggios building to a mighty climax.      Konstantyn Travinskyy

The challenge in this piece lies in the pianists ability to bring out the last notes of each arpeggio. It's difficult to really bring out all notes while returning back.
